In recent days, a video has gone viral on social networks in which the Dalai Lama kisses a minor.
The event took place during an activity with the M3M foundation in India as young students received their diplomas.
Tenzin Gyatso, as the spiritual leader is called, spoke a few words when a boy approached him and asked if he could hug him. To which he replied, okay, move on.
You immediately see how the boy approaches Gyatso and kisses him on the cheek and then hugs him. After letting go, he takes the minor’s hand and points to his lips, for which he takes his chin and starts kissing him.
The boy turns his face away and they both smile. After a few seconds, the Dalai Lama tells him to suck his tongue, whereupon the boy just supports his forehead with his own.
The clip sparked outrage over the situation and they consider it an unjustified act. They also believe that it cannot be considered a cultural act.
The Central Tibetan government shared part of the video but omitted the kiss, describing the Dalai Lama as advising the boy to “look up to a good person who always works to cultivate peace and happiness in the world.”
