The Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund is a Google-founded fund that the company announced in late March 2022. Its goal is to provide support – financial, but not only – to selected startups from Ukraine on the “equity-free” basis. a year ago, Google wants to help maintain and develop Ukrainian businesses during the war, support the community and create the basis for their reconstruction after the end of the armed conflict.
Google spent $5 million to help Ukrainian companies. And that’s not all
As part of the program, Google selected 58 promising companies and provided them with a total of USD 5 million (approx. PLN 21.5 million). In addition, they were also provided mentoring and product support as well as credits for cloud services. The subsidy for young businesses from across our eastern border was awarded by Google in three tranches in June, August and December 2022.
As the American giant describes, on the occasion of the summary of the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund, an event was organized where 46 beneficiaries of the fund presented their products and services to international investors. Google emphasizes that many of the startups that took part in the event presented services that use artificial intelligence.
Many companies take advantage of the benefits of artificial intelligence
Among the Ukrainian companies that had the opportunity to attract investors’ attention were, for example, Mindly, an online psychotherapy platform, Zeely – providing AI solutions supporting the sales model, or Discoperi, which uses artificial intelligence to collect data from industrial cameras. A list of all the companies supported by the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund program can be found at these links – and Google also highlights that the founders of many Ukrainian startups are women. Several dozen of them have been living and working in Warsaw for almost a year, using the Google for Startups Campus Warsaw building.
“The event showed how much energy Ukrainian entrepreneurs have. Startups showed their innovation and potential by presenting offers to investors. Representatives of investment funds gathered at the Campus had the opportunity to see for themselves the high level of business awareness and technological advancement of Ukrainian startups. We are glad that we could make a small contribution to the success of Ukrainian companies that we supported under the Ukraine Support Fund” – said MichaĆ Kramarz, head of the Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw.
