There is water on the moon, according to Chinese scientists who announced they had found the vital fluid in the moon impact glass beads located in one lunar crater. This, however It is not the first time that water has been found on the moon.

It should be noted that the search for water on the moon is essential for the future. The study, published in the specialist journal nature geosciences, points out that these crystals are likely a new reservoir of water on the moon, recording the entry and exit of water from solar winds and acting as buffers for the moon’s surface water cycle.

Several missions to the moon have already confirmed the presence of water on the moon, but the vital fluid could be found in smaller quantities than on Earth. It is usually found as ice in shaded areas or as a thin layer of gas on the surface.

However, the bodies of water found so far do not correspond to a water cycle that would allow it to be maintained on the satellite, in the same way as on Earth. Scientists believe there must be water reserves that have yet to be identified that have the capacity to buffer the moon’s surface water cycle, that is, be able to retain the water on the satellite and not escape into space.

“These findings indicate that impact crystals on the surface of the moon and other airless bodies in the solar system are capable of storing and releasing water from solar winds into space,” said Professor Hu, who led the study.

According to the study crystals could make up between three and five percent of the lunar soil. In addition, there could be about a third of a trillion tons of water in all the glass beads on the moon.
