DailyMail: Smartphones technically have the ability to constantly eavesdrop on the user

Security experts have allowed the possibility of constant wiretapping using smart devices. This is reported by the DailyMail.

Media journalists referred to NordVPN cybersecurity engineers, who said that technically, smartphones and other gadgets can eavesdrop on the user. According to experts, this is possible with the help of applications and microphones of the device.

Cybersecurity adviser Adrianus Warmenhoven, in a conversation with the publication, noted that this is why many applications so often ask the user to give them access to the microphone. Varmenhoven called the ability to covertly eavesdrop on consumers and collect information about them for marketing purposes a “gold mine” for advertisers.

Adrianus Warmenhoven also noted that security experts have repeatedly accused gadgets of secretly collecting information about users and displaying relevant advertising. However, evidence that this feature is being abused en masse has not yet been provided.

Earlier, specialists from the marketing company Digital Third Coast (DTC) said that 60 percent of US residents are sure that their smartphones are being tapped. It also turned out that 13 percent of the surveyed users are considering purchasing a phone without smart features.
