Insider Ming-Chi Ko: Apple will release a special version of the AirPods Pro headphones with USB-C
Apple intends to introduce a new version of the AirPods Pro wireless headphones. This is reported by the publication 9to5Mac.
The journalists referred to the authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko, who studied the beta version of iOS 16.4 and found a mention of the new Apple headset in it. The specialist found out that the American company will release a special version of the AirPods Pro wireless headphones, which will have a case with a USB-C connector. Current versions of AirPods headsets have cases equipped with a Lightning port.
According to Koh, Apple will introduce similar headphones in the second or third quarter of 2023. At the same time, the insider is sure that the rest of the headphones will remain with the proprietary Lightning connector – the author mentioned the AirPods 2 and 3 headsets.
9to5Mac journalists noted that Apple will gradually implement USB-C in all its devices due to a new EU law requiring the use of a universal interface in gadgets. Companies selling consumer electronics in the European market will have to equip their gadgets with a USB-C port no later than December 2024.
In October 2022, Apple VP of Marketing Greg Joswiak promised that the company would release an iPhone with USB-C in the future. According to him, thus the corporation will fulfill the requirement of the European Union.
