IDC: global shipments of PCs and devices for gamers will decrease in 2023

Global shipments of PCs for gamers will fall in 2023. This is reported in the IDC report.

According to the analyst firm, 2023 will be a quiet year for the gaming industry. In 2022, shipments of gaming PCs and monitors were 44.9 million and 17.3 million, down 6.4 percent and 7.1 percent, respectively, compared to 2021, and will continue this year.

According to experts, the decline is due to macroeconomic reasons, large stocks of devices in warehouses and obsolescence of equipment. IDC manager Jitesh Ubrani noted that gamers are more likely to purchase computers and accessories of the past generation, as newer devices consume more power and are noticeably more expensive.

The report says that in 2024 the market situation will improve and further equipment sales will only grow. Experts have predicted that shipments of products for gamers will reach 75.1 million units by 2027.

Earlier, IDC experts said that the wearable device market will increase in 2023 to 443 million units. The agency’s report says that at the moment, sales of smart watches and headphones are slowing down the stocks of equipment accumulated in the warehouses of sellers.
