As a symbolic gesture against climate change, the initiative ‘Earth Hour‘, which consists of turning off the lights of buildings, monuments and non-essential electronic devices for an hour every last Saturday in March.

This year, Earth Hour is on Saturday, March 25 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Earth Hour has existed since 2007, when the organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the advertising agency Leo Burnett in Sydney, Australia, came together to create an impressive strategy that draws attention to the impacts of climate change and the measures that can be taken to care for the health of the planet and its inhabitants.

According to the movement’s website, โ€œEarth Hour was created precisely to unite the world and support people and the planet. To achieve peace and harmony between man and nature.โ€

This year there is also another way to support the initiative. It’s all about the challenge #KMPorThePlanet And #BackToThePlanetand consists of the commitment to complete a certain number of kilometers that add up to what would be a return to the planet, the equivalent of 40,000 kilometers.

Anyone can register via the ‘Earth Hour’ website and choose between running, swimming, walking, cycling or skating. It is a commitment to cover the agreed kilometers and thus contribute to your own health.

โ€œThe next 7 years are crucial to stay within planetary limits and below the 1.5ยฐC climate threshold; Otherwise, we will go to a state of irreversible environmental degradation and we will experience very serious consequences from climate change,โ€ the web portal states.
