Counterpoint: Apple leads premium smartphone market with 75 percent share
Apple holds 75 percent of the premium smartphone market in 2022. This is reported in the current report of the agency Counterpoint Research.
In 2021, the American company also held a dominant position with 71 percent of the market, according to specialists. The material says that the premium segment grew by 1 percent year on year, for the first time in history, providing 55 percent of the revenue of the global smartphone market.
In second position was Samsung, which received a share of 16 percent – a decrease of 5 percent. Huawei came in third with a 3 percent share. In the premium market, sales were up 6 percent year on year. According to experts, Apple’s share could grow even more if it were not for disruptions in the supply of iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max during the peak holiday season in 2022.
Counterpoint specialists predicted an increase in the share among manufacturers of Android smartphones in the premium segment. This is attributed to the emergence of more expensive folding devices.
In early March, Counterpoint analysts reported that the iPhone 13 was the top-selling smartphone of 2022 with a 5 percent share. Experts also said that 8 of the 10 best-selling smartphones last year belong to Apple.
