Insider: iPhone 15 with USB-C will get fast charging, but only with original cables
Fast charging in new smartphones will only work with certified accessories. This is reported by the publication 9to5Mac.
As it became known to authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko, a USB-C connector will appear in the iPhone 15 series devices. However, smartphones will have a limitation. In particular, the fastest charging will only work when using certified accessories.
Ko explained that in order to get maximum performance, the owner of the device will need to use not only the original adapter, but also a certified USB-C cable. Otherwise, the charging speed will be limited.
At the moment, the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro support maximum charging power up to 20 and 27 watts, respectively. Original accessories are made by Apple and its partners, who must be certified Made for iPhone to do so.
In mid-March, Laptop Mag journalists suggested that Apple’s decision to certify USB-C cables may be contrary to EU laws. The authors studied EU documents and found out that the rules of European regulators prohibit gadget manufacturers from manipulating chargers.
