Elon Musk has a new way to increase Twitter revenue. Even more benefits for your money

Elon Musk has announced a new idea to increase Twitter’s revenue. The platform is to favor the answers of verified people, i.e. those who pay for using the billionaire’s social networking site. You get what you pay for,” Musk concluded.

Elon Musk Elon Musk is doing what he can to increase the social network’s revenue. One of the ways to monetize the platform has become a monthly fee for the ability to verify your account.

Elon Musk has a new idea. “You get what you pay for”

People who used verified accounts before November 2022 can still do so. Now, however, you have to pay for the possibility of verification (and getting a blue tick next to your username) (by purchasing the Twitter Blue service). And it’s not a little, because $ 8 (via the browser) or $ 11 (via the application) per month.

Now, however, Elon Musk came up with an idea on how to “encourage” users to use the monthly subscription even more. At least those who care about the good visibility of their tweets. As he wrote (of course on Twitter), the platform will change the order in which replies to tweets are displayed.

Responses from the accounts you follow are given top priority. You will see these at the top. Secondly, tweets from verified people will be displayed, and finally from users who use unverified accounts. In practice, the visibility of tweets of people who do not pay the subscription will decrease.

Musk explains that the change is intended to give higher priority to answers from real people, not bots and trolls. However, he does not hide at the same time that the whole fuss is also (or perhaps primarily) about money. “The old saying goes, ‘You get what you pay for,'” the billionaire concluded.

“Anyone can verify themselves. It’s only $7 a month”

In response to a tweet from one user (who stated that “unverified accounts provide more value but less revenue), Musk replied that “any real human being can be verified.” added.

The billionaire also stated that “non-ad-related revenue sources are important so that the platform is not too dependent on the whims of corporate America” and added that “having a large number of verified accounts will clean the system.” Musk also believes that verifying accounts is necessary to prevent Twitter “from becoming a hell of bots and trolls like Facebook.”

Until recently, the Twitter Blue service was available only to users from several countries around the world, but at the beginning of February it officially came to Poland as well. On the Vistula River, you have to pay PLN 36 per month for the subscription via a web browser and PLN 49 from the application level. Slightly more profitable is the annual subscription, which costs PLN 374.99 or PLN 514.99, respectively.
