A shopping center in the municipality of Sabaneta, near Medellín, Colombia, was the scene of a macabre event. A man killed his ex-partner on Wednesday afternoon and then committed suicide.
According to information from local media, Luis Aguirre, 67, was looking for his ex-partner Maryori Muñoz, 40, at her place of work, in an aesthetic center of which she was the administrator. It was not the first time he had harassed the woman after their divorce six months ago.
The Ecuadorian revealed her killer’s name before she died, she was stabbed in Chicago
Muñoz responded to Aguirre’s call and after an argument, he sprayed a chemical on him, which has not yet been identified. Following this, surveillance video captured the man also inhaling the chemical and running to the bathroom where he passed out and died while holding the product.
Mall officials, firefighters and police went to Maryori Muñoz and transferred her to a hospital where she died.
“When he arrived at the clinic, they told us that the corneas were completely destroyed,” as well as his airways, the local safety secretary, Mariano Atehortúa, explained.
“Because of the lethality of this (powder), we wouldn’t know which lab, who manufactures it, where it’s obtained, because it’s literally a deadly substance,” which is under investigation, he noted.
“The fire officer, two policemen (…), (two) officials from the Las Américas clinic and two more people from the mall” were intoxicated by the substance, he added.
Those affected showed symptoms of nausea, vomiting and headaches, although they are already stable.
The mall floors contaminated with the chemical were sealed.
Maryori Muñoz had two children with another man. Since her relationship with Aguirre ended due to assault, he continued to harass her according to several testimonies.
