London. As part of the “slimming down” of the plane, several passengers left the board. They got a voucher for 250 euros

A plane flying from London to Milan had to “drop” 700 kg, all because of the weather conditions. The crew asked several passengers to voluntarily disembark, offering a €250 voucher in return. There were well-known Italian journalists on board who helped in translating the instructions of the aircraft’s staff.

The unusual incident took place on Thursday at London’s Royal Docks airport. Passengers waiting on board the flight to Milan were asked by the crew to leave the plane voluntarily. As it turned out, due to the prevailing weather conditions, the plane had to reduce its weight. Thus, the crew was forced to relieve the machine by some 700 kg.

700 kg, i.e. several passengers and luggage

None of the flight attendants spoke Italian, and a significant proportion of the passengers on board were Italians who did not understand English messages. Italian sports journalist Alessia Tarquinio rushed to help, translating the crew’s instructions.

On the recording you can hear the amusement of the passengers asking the crew to leave the machine in exchange for a voucher for the next flights.

– If the volunteers don’t come out, the ITA will decide [ITA Airways, włoska linia samolotów – red.] based on the cost of the ticket. So those who have paid less will probably stay here – informed the journalist, quoted by the Italian daily “Corriere della Sera”. She added that those who disembark would be transferred to Heathrow Airport, from where they would be taken on another flight to Milan.

Four people initially volunteered to disembark in exchange for a voucher, and were later joined by more. According to various sources, 5 to 7 people left the plane.

Famous people on board the plane

On board, apart from the fans of the AC Milan football club, returning to Italy after the match against Tottenham and the sports journalist, there was also another journalist – Alessandro Alciato, who recorded a video with a colleague from the industry and shared it on his account. “All passengers’ luggage is being unloaded and will be shipped tomorrow. The crew does not speak Italian,” he wrote. Alciato on Twitter.

Finally, the plane operated by German Airways took off after about three hours of delay.
