Now traveling to the United States can be as easy as crossing a bridge without leaving Tijuana International Airport.

Called Cross Border Xpress (CBX), this service is a bridge connecting Mexico to the United States, exclusively for Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) passengers.

That is, if you want to get to San Diego, you can buy your flight to Tijuana and cross overland from there. The advantage is that it is cheaper. The ticket is purchased online or at the airport.

From there you can take a taxi, Uber, Lyft or Shuttle to downtown San Diego, San Ysidro, San Diego Airport terminals, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Huntington Park, Riverside, Sacramento and Fresno. For 7 years it has served to transport 17 million travelers.

Is the United States still the land of opportunity? An expert analyzes today’s ‘American dream’

How to cross from Tijuana to the United States on foot and without leaving the airport

1) When you get off the plane in Tijuana and collect your luggage, you must make your way to the CBX Bridge. If you are traveling to the United States, it is important that you do so within two hours of your flight arriving in Tijuana. If not, your pass will lose its validity.

To enter Mexico it is necessary to have access within 24 hours before the flight departure.

2) Crossing is easy, just remember never to leave the baggage carousel. Otherwise you have to go through the sentry.

3) Once you arrive at the ticket offices, show or purchase your ticket. The staff will tell you which line to get into. They check your visa, passport and open your way to the bridge.

4) After that, you will go through the CBP facilities, where an immigration officer will interview you to determine whether or not you will be allowed entry into the United States.

When you enter Mexico, you will be interviewed by Mexican officials.

“The estimated crossing in January was 19 minutes from Tijuana to San Diego and 30 minutes from San Diego to the last waiting rooms in Tijuana,” they note.
