Counterpoint: iPhone 13 became the best-selling smartphone of 2022 with a share of 5 percent
8 out of the 10 best-selling smartphones of 2022 belong to Apple. This is reported in the latest report from Counterpoint Research.
According to the agency’s research, the first place in the ranking was taken by the iPhone 13 – the device received a share of five percent of the total sales. The second and third positions are occupied by the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max – 2.6 and 1.7 percent, respectively. The top five also included the Samsung Galaxy A13 and iPhone 13 Pro, with 1.6 percent each.
Also on the list of the best-selling phones of the year were the iPhone 12, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone SE 2022 and Samsung Galaxy A03. Experts noted that the iPhone 13, which was in the first position, received a share of 28 percent among all Apple smartphones. The device also turned out to be the most popular phone in the market of China, USA, UK, Germany and France.
According to Counterpoint researchers, in 2023, smartphone manufacturers will reduce the number of models in order to reduce competition within the brand. So, the number of models has already decreased from 4200 units in 2021 to 3600 units in 2022. Also, the market will shift towards the release of premium devices.
Earlier, Canalys experts predicted the explosive growth of the foldable smartphone segment. According to experts, by the end of this year, the market for foldable smartphones will double – from 14.2 to 30 million devices.
