Expensive models of electric vehicles Tesla Model S and X fell in price by 4-9 percent
Tesla has slashed the prices of its top-end electric cars. It is reported by Reuters.
According to the website of the American automaker, a number of electric car models have fallen in price – we are talking about cars in the most expensive configuration. So, the all-wheel drive version of the Model S, previously priced at $95,000, is now available for $90,000, the Model S Plaid costs $110 instead of $115,000, the Model X AWD costs $100 instead of $110,000, and the Model X Plaid costs $110 instead of $120,000.
Thus, all premium versions of electric vehicles have fallen in price by 49 percent. The agency’s journalists noticed that the price cut – the fifth since the beginning of the year – came a few days after Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that cheaper cars were spurring demand. “The desire of people to own Tesla is extremely high. The limiting factor is their ability to pay,” Musk said.
According to experts, the most expensive Tesla cars account for about four percent of the company’s global deliveries. Journalists noted that in January, the corporation reduced the price of electric vehicles by up to 20 percent, which many analysts called the beginning of a price war in the electric car market.
In December, Tesla offered a $3,750 rebate on its electric vehicles. The company did not begin to explain why popular electric cars unexpectedly fell in price.
