A Spanish court ruled that a man had to pay his ex-partner €200,000 for housework she did while they were married for more than two decades.

A court in Vélez-Málaga determined compensation of 204,624.86 euros as a result of the addition of two decades of minimum wage since 1996.

The ruling came on February 15 and the couple was married with separation of property. The woman had devoted herself to the household.

In an interview with Cadena Ser radio, the woman explained that her husband “didn’t want me to work outside”, although she did help him work in the gyms he owned, responsible for “public relations, acting as a monitor, in in short, everything possible”.

In addition, “I devoted myself exclusively to the household, to taking care of my husband, to taking care of the house.”

“It forced me to play the specific role” of housework, “to be in a ballpark where I couldn’t move around too much,” he shared.

“(I’m) very happy because I think ‘the sentence’ has been well deserved,” she summarized.

The husband must also pay him a monthly pension for his daughters.

It is not the first time such a sentence has been imposed in Spain, last week in Galicia a man was sentenced to pay almost 40,000 euros to his ex-wife.
