In recent days, e-mail boxes of many Poles have been receiving messages allegedly from the police, which are supposed to warn about the high level of terrorist threat in our country. The officers inform that the police do not communicate with citizens in such a way and warn against the activities of fraudsters impersonating Polish services.

Many have experienced the actions of scammers who send messages containing fabricated content to their e-mail boxes. He is responsible for counteracting such practices. the CERT Polska team, appointed to respond to network security incidents. As , employees of this team have recently recorded many cases of sending e-mails informing recipients about the allegedly high level of terrorist threat in Poland. Their authors impersonate the police.

On March 3, he published a statement on his website in which he denies that officers send such messages to citizens.

“In recent days, we have been observing further attempts to impersonate the Police. Many people are sent messages allegedly from the Police, from which we can learn about the existing high level of terrorist threat in the area. We would like to inform you that the Police are not the author of these messages” – we read in statement.

The officers emphasize that the purpose of the scammers “may be an attempt to cause anxiety or fear, and may also be a prelude to further criminal activities.”

Police officers also refer to the use of misleading addresses by the authors of the messages.

“The name of the e-mail address from which these messages are sent is noteworthy: ‘kryminalny@p0licja.com’. We pay attention to the deliberate use of the number 0 in the name of the Police. Although some of the information contained in the e-mail is correct, its purpose may be causing anxiety or fear.
