Tecno introduced a concept smartphone with a color-changing back panel
The Chinese company Tecno has announced a concept smartphone with a hybrid back panel. This is reported by the publication Android Authority.
The device was presented at the MWC 2023 exhibition. The concept device received a Tecno Chameleon back panel, which can switch between 1600 colors and shades. According to the company, the panel has a submicron prism that scatters light when it hits the back of the smartphone.
Tecno said that the resource of the back panel of a chameleon smartphone is designed for two million switches: that is, a user can change the color of a smartphone about 100 times a day for 55 years. The rear panel consumes little battery power – comparable to watching a five-minute video on the phone screen.
Journalists noted that in 2022 Tecno presented a similar prototype, but in that case the device had a back panel under the influence of ultraviolet radiation. The company did not disclose when Tecno Chameleon technology will be used in the brand’s smartphones.
Previously, under the Nokia brand, the G22 phone was introduced with the possibility of self-service. The device received a modular design, designed for simplified repairs at home.
