Two men attacked the front of a supermarket belonging to the political family of the Argentine soccer star with bullets Lionel Messi in the Argentine city of Rosario and left a written message naming the captain of the world champion Albiceleste team, the city’s mayor, Pablo Javkin, reported.
Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is a narco, he won’t take care of you” reads out the handwritten message on a piece of paper that the attackers left behind after firing shots at the facade of the closed building.
The message refers to the mayor (mayor) of Rosario – Santa Fe county, center -, Pablo Javkin, who went to the scene. According to the first expert reports there were a total of 14 shots that mostly hit the metal shutter of the supermarket.
“This has been going on for quite some time,” Javkin said. “We have five security forces operating in Rosario and yet they can do this because no one is chasing them,” he complained, as the act “seeks to create chaos in the city.”
“The repercussions are being sought here, it is very insidious, what news goes viral in the world faster than an attack on Messi?” he asked.
The mayor confirmed that the supermarket is owned by de Rocuzzo, in-laws of French star Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
“This must be a border point, let’s not pollute Rosario so easily,” he said when asking for more action from the security forces.
For his part, the deputy chief of regional unit 2 of the Rosario police, Iván González, believed that the note “is not a threat” but rather an act “to attract attention”.
The police chief confirmed to Cadena 3 radio that “there were no injuries as the property was unoccupied at the time”.
The incident took place early Thursday morning and was committed by two individuals who arrived on a motorcycle, according to a security camera video released by police. The attack was also witnessed by a witness who confirmed the facts.
It is a store of the supermarket chain Único in a densely populated neighborhood of Rosario, the birthplace of Messi and his wife, Antonela Rocuzzo, 320 km north of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
Rosario has been plagued for years by criminal gangs involved in drug trafficking, a problem that has earned several approaches from the authorities.
The attack came days after a meeting of the heads of all security forces joined Javkin, Santa Fe Governor Omar Perotti and representatives of the federal government to develop new strategies to reduce crime in Rosario.
