The best is still ahead of us, because this year’s bag of games has only just opened. Here are some titles that are still worth waiting for.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (12/5/2023 | Switch)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not only the best production for the Switch console, but also one of the best-rated games of the last decade. So her successor has an extremely difficult task ahead of him.
Despite the close release date, Tears of the Kingdom is shrouded in mystery. Suffice it to say that – so far – Nintendo has presented only two short trailers of the production.
All we know is that we will again play the fearless Link and set out to save the kingdom of Hyrule. Our hero will also receive a new means of transport. We have to wait until May for the rest.
Diablo IV (6/6/2023 | PC, PS5, XSX)
This series needs no introduction. In June, let’s once again face the army of the Burning Hells in a bloody hack’n’slash from Blizzard studio.
Diablo IV is to be the spiritual heir to the first two installments of the series. So we can expect classic RPG gameplay, in which the development of our character will play a key role.
In all this, the only thing that worries me is the creators’ strong emphasis on online game modes. I hope Diablo IV will have as much to offer for people who prefer to play alone.
Starfield (2023 | PC, XSX)
Starfield is a title that was already on my last year’s list of the most anticipated games. Ultimately, Bethesda decided to postpone the game’s release to 2023 to better polish it.
Considering the condition in which Fallout 76, the previous great production of the Todd Howard team, came to us, I can only applaud this decision.
Starfield is an RPG game set in the distant future, in which we play the roles of space travelers and colonizers of distant planets.
The creators announce that the greatest strength of their “cosmic odyssey” will be an extensive character development system and varied quests, during which we will face numerous moral choices.
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage (2023 | PC, PS5, XSX)
More than two years after the release of Valhalla, Ubisoft returns to the Assassin’s Creed series. This time, however, it is supposed to be more intimate and more … “assassin’s creed”.
Mirage is a tribute to the first installments of the series. We can expect a greater emphasis on stealth and discreet elimination of our enemies. Also, the game world is to be smaller than in the case of Origins or Odyssey.
The action of Mirage takes us to the 9th century AD and Baghdad, which was experiencing its golden age at that time. We will play the role of Basim Ibn Ishaq, known from the previous installment, and during the game we will also visit Alamut, the famous fortress of the Assassins.
Broken Roads (2023 | PC, PS4, XONE, Switch)
Broken Roads is by far the least media production on our list. However, I must admit that I am looking forward to the game by Drop Bears Bytes. And it has been for over two years.
We are dealing here with an isometric RPG maintained in the atmosphere of the first two installments of the Fallout series, as well as such titles as Baldur’s Gate, Planescape: Torment, or Disco Elysium.
The game takes us to post-apocalyptic Australia – a place where the main goal of humanity is to survive each day.
The creators of Broken Roads emphasize that the decisions made by our character will affect not only their personality, but also the game world. There will also be an extensive combat system, which – as in the first Fallouts – will take place in turn-based mode.
Alan Wake 2 (2023 | PC, PS5, XSX)
And finally, the game I’m most looking forward to this year. Alan Wake 2, because that’s what we’re talking about, is a continuation of the excellent production of Remedy studio, which premiered over 12 years ago. Once again, we will assume the role of the titular Alan Wake, a popular writer who became a victim of his own work.
The first trailer heralds that the game will be maintained in the convention of full-blooded survival horror inspired by the works of such creators as Stephen King and David Lynch.
