From Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

This event offers the unique opportunity to drive the full range of Porsche models, from electric to electric Taycan Turbo S to the 911 GT3, including the Cayenne Turbo GT and the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

The event, which invited 480 brand VIP participants and 40 journalists from six countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, took place last month. A group of 44 participants was able to drive from the Porsche Center Santo Domingo (downtown) to La Romana (coastal city in the eastern Caribbean), where the guests had lunch at the Casa de Campo Resort.

Carolina Khoury, Marketing and Public Relations Manager of Porsche Center Santo Domingo (PCSD), explains that the planning of the PWRS starts a year before the event is held. “Later, after six months, we started developing the schedule together with affiliates who guide us through vehicle imports, logistics and the international quota of people who will come to the Roadshow.”

The previous edition of the PWRS took place in February of the current year and took place in Guatemala. From this Central American country came the 27 vehicles tested on the streets of Santo Domingo. “These cars have been tested by journalists and potential customers of the brand who have not yet had the chance to drive a Porsche.”

Jacinto Peynado, president of PCSD – Auto Europa, notes that nearly 450 people were invited during the 13-day event. “Porsche approves the performance of the PWRS every four years and if it meets the brand’s expectations, it could be every three years.” The executive reveals that they should have organized the PWRS in 2019, but due to the pandemic, they had to postpone it.

It is an activity that Porsche has been carrying out since the year 2000. In recent years, nearly 45,000 people from 45 countries have had the opportunity to participate in this driving experience.

The route started from the Porsche Center Santo Domingo, located in the center of the city, from here we drove the 911 Targa 4 GTS. This car has 480 hp (353 kW), the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder biturbo engine reaches a top speed of 311 km/h.

After about 25 kilometers, a stop had to be made to change drivers or vehicles. To continue the tour we are on the Cayenne TurboGTwhich is considered the fastest SUV in the world due to its 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, which produces 631 hp and reaches top speeds of 300 km/h.

The route the three convoys traveled through was consistent with the vehicles, the scenery was spectacular bordering the Caribbean Sea, the road in good condition to make the most of the cars’ advantages.

It’s time to Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo, one of Porsche’s first electric cars in modern times. It has a battery of 33 modules with a total of 396 cells. It has an “overboost” rating of 761 hp (560 kW) with the function start control activated and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.

After discovering the wonders this version of the Taycan has to offer, we arrived at a luxury resort in the town of La Romana, 100 miles from Santo Domingo. Here the whole group took the opportunity to eat and enjoy the beach.

The way back to the Porsche Center was 160 kilometers, on this trip we tested two more vehicles: the 911 Turbo S and the Boxster GTS 4. Both cars behaved as they are, real race cars on the road.

This activity offered by Porsche, both to the international press and to its customers, serves to learn more about the different models in its elegant portfolio; This way they get more people under the spell of the brand. Undoubtedly a high-end event, according to the vehicles they offer.
