New PlayStation 5 deficit predicted

Sony will slow down production of the PlayStation 5 due to a lack of components. Bloomberg reports.

According to the agency’s report, the company has lowered its forecast for the number of PS5 sold for the current fiscal year. Sony previously planned to sell 16 million set-top boxes between April 2021 and March 2022. It is clarified that at the moment the corporation has sold 15 million units of equipment.

Experts predicting a new shortage of consoles noted that Sony is experiencing a shortage of chips, there are problems with the supply of components and logistics. For example, supplies of parts for the PS5 are irregular, and varying levels of vaccine introduction around the world complicate operations at production sites.

According to optimistic forecasts, the corporation is going to sell 22.6 million PS5 units in 2022. However, her partners believe that achieving such a goal will be extremely difficult.

Earlier, Russian retailers predicted a new shortage of Sony game consoles. Representatives of M.Video said they could not say the exact delivery dates for the PlayStation 5, although the Xbox Series X should appear in the foreseeable future.
