The Polish Post has problems with parcel machines. Trade unionists complain to Morawiecki about Orlen. “Pathology”

Poczta Polska and Orlen have been cooperating in the field of parcel deliveries for the last few years. Thanks to the cooperation, the parcels of the state-owned postal company were delivered, among others, to to parcel vending machines of a fuel concern and to petrol stations. However, in the second half of 2022, the cooperation was terminated and the former partners went their separate ways.

The unions of the Polish Post Office complained to Morawiecki about Orlen

Since then, Orlen has been developing the network of its machines very dynamically, which, in turn, is not working out for the Polish Post. How unions decided to send a letter to the prime minister. Its content is surprising to say the least.

The authors of the letter ask Mateusz Morawiecki to force the management boards of Poczta Polska and Orlen to talk about returning to cooperation. Trade unionists point out that “there has been pathology”, and the head of the union, BogumiÅ‚ Nowicki, considers it unacceptable that “state-owned enterprises destroy each other”, the newspaper writes.

The Polish Post is far behind on the market of postal machines

In fact, the Polish Post completely slept through its moment and stopped developing on the market of parcel machines dominated today by InPost (20,000 parcel lockers). Today, the state-owned company has about 200 machines and this number has hardly changed in the last three years. For comparison – DPD already has three thousand parcel lockers, and Orlen and Allegro each have about two thousand. The Polish Post was left far behind even AliExpress, which has about a thousand machines.

Postmen have been promising rapid development of their own machines for years. Two thousand of them were to be built in Polish cities by the end of 2022. Their number, however, has hardly budged in the past year. Then the date was changed to the first quarter of 2023. January is behind us, and the vending machines have not arrived, so they do not arrive. As Rzeczpospolita writes, it is already known that the goal may only be achieved in the coming months.
