The Swiss supermarket chain Migros has launched the world’s first vegan hard-boiled egg, which it will sell -for the moment- in its stores in Zurich, Basel, Lucerne and Geneva.
The product has been developed by a subsidiary company of the chain and is based on soy protein, with two different masses – one for the white and the other for the yolk.
Christened ‘V-Love The Boiled’, a pack of four will be available at a price of 4.20 euros and, according to the company, its texture is the same as that of an original hard-boiled egg, so it can be cut and prepared in the same way.
“We are very happy to to be able to offer our customers a real alternative to hard boiled eggs“said Lucie Kendall, developer of the plant-based egg.
This edible is the second world first to be developed and manufactured by Migros in Switzerland. In 2020 it already launched the world’s first chickpea-based yogurt alternative.
