We associate the possibility of reacting to messages with one of the many emoticons inseparably from Facebook and Messenger. Now, WhatsApp, which also belongs to the Meta conglomerate (formerly Facebook), established in October 2021, is joining the group of websites that enable this.
WhatsApp allows you to add a reaction. There are also larger files
Such an option on WhatsApp has been a long time coming, but it wasn’t until mid-April that Meta announced that it was starting the first reaction tests. The communicator then announced the launch of the Community function – i.e. closed conversations for various social groups – e.g. employees of one company. Along with the reactions, there was to be the possibility of removing messages by the administrator, the option of sharing large files and voice calls with 32 people at the same time.
Now WhatsApp has been informed that the reaction tests were successful and that the platform can make the feature available to all users of the platform. The communicator explains that relationships are “a fun and fast way of responding that helps reduce information noise in groups.”
For starters, WhatsApp will offer six emoticons that you can use to react to other people’s comments. They are: liking, heart, laughter, surprise, crying, and request. In the future, however, Meta plans to add more emotes to choose from, although it does not reveal which ones yet.
In addition to the reactions, WhatsApp also allowed users to add significantly larger files to the conversation. Currently, you can transfer files weighing up to 2 GB. Previously, this limit was over 20 times lower and amounted to 100 MB. Meta says it will help improve the work of small businesses or students using WhatsApp groups for work and study. These were also enlarged and can now count up to 512 people.
The news should appear for all users who update WhatsApp to the latest version.
