Bloomberg: Apple will release an iPad-style smart display for smart home control
Apple is interested in the smart home segment and intends to release several smart devices. It is reported by Bloomberg.
As it became known to the journalist of the agency Mark Gurman, the company began work on a number of smart home devices. With the help of stationary gadgets, it will be possible to control home devices and household appliances. The first such device could be an iPad-style smart display, a gadget for interacting with smart home devices and communicating via FaceTime.
Gurman’s sources also said that the company was going to release a series of displays to control smart devices. The specialist reached out to Apple for comment, but did not receive a prompt response.
Mark Gurman suggested that Apple’s interest in the growing segment of smart home devices demonstrates the company’s decision to integrate support for the Matter protocol into its devices. With the release of new devices, the IT giant may begin to compete with Amazon and Google, which are considered one of the main manufacturers of smart home devices.
Mark Gurman spoke about the creation of a hybrid iPad tablet and HomePod speaker designed for home use back in August 2022. A Bloomberg columnist called the device under development a competitor to the Google Nest Hub and Amazon Echo Show 15.
