Samsung will be convicted of self-destructing laptops

Samsung is being sued in the US for defective laptops that can break the computer screen. It is reported by the Bleeping Computer edition.

The class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. The plaintiffs complain about the Samsung Chromebook Plus 2-in-1 laptop, which has a defect resulting in device breakdown. It is reported that the device has a hinge, thanks to which it can be folded and transformed into a tablet. However, over time, the hinges that connect the screen to the rest of the device fail and break the display.

Users who filed the lawsuit note that Samsung laptops actually self-destruct after a certain period of time. Outraged consumers are confident that the company knew about the defect, but did not withdraw the unsuccessful model from sale.

Samsung said in a statement that the company usually promptly replaces the defective device or refunds the consumer. The company representatives noted that the breakdown may be due to the fact that users too often or too abruptly open and close the laptop lid.

In October, the Moscow Arbitration Court banned the import and sale of 61 models of Samsung smartphones in Russia. The reason for the ban was the appeal of the Swiss Sqwin SA, which opposed the use of the Samsung Pay payment service in Russia due to the violation of a patent for the technology.
