Ministry of Labor asks companies to facilitate remote work for their employees due to demonstrations

The owner of the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE), Alfonso Adrianzénasked employers to provide their workers with the possibility of carrying out their work remotely, since a “March to Lima” for this Thursday, January 19, in which Peruvians from all parts of the country will go to the capital to demonstrate against the government of Dina Boluartewhich carries a balance of 50 deaths from protests.

“From the Ministry of Labor we want to urge employers to facilitate the remote action of their workers during the next 24 hours. This is in the sense that tomorrow, Thursday, there will be some demonstrations and that we are not sure whether or not acts that could spill over into violence will continue,” Minister Adrianzén said at a press conference after the Council of Ministers of this Wednesday January 18.

“We ask the country for calm, but also production, productivity, employment and the right for people to work,” added the head of the MTPE.

Likewise, he personally addressed the representatives of the General Central of Workers of Peru (CGTP), who have called a strike also for Thursday, to ask them to continue with their work.

“We from the Ministry propose to the leaders of the CGTP, ahead, not a political agenda, but a labor one, and continue with the dialogue,” Adrianzén requested.

As is known, among the main slogans that have promoted the demonstrations is the request for the resignation of President Dina Boluarte and the closure of Congress, in addition to other requests such as the advancement of elections and the constituent assembly. Justice is also demanded for the 50 murders in the protests that have been taking place in just over a month of the president’s administration.
