Realme has confirmed 240W charging in the smartphone. Full in… 9 minutes. It’s a record

Users have been complaining about the relatively short working time of smartphones on a single charge for years. Currently, the standard is two days away from the charger at most, and this time cannot be extended without using larger batteries. And these would not fit into the extremely slim and light smartphones that are produced today.

Ridiculously fast charging. In 8 minutes to full

The solution in which Chinese manufacturers began to invest turned out to be fast charging technology. Currently, chargers with a power of 65 or even over 80 W are no longer surprising, and they allow you to replenish energy from zero to one hundred percent in less than half an hour.

Realme announced on Thursday that their upcoming smartphone Realme Gt Neo 5 (to be shown in February this year) will support a charging standard with an absurd power of 240W. Of course, this will be a new record among production smartphones. The current (among the phones already on sale) record holder Realme GT NEO 3 with 150W charging.

240W of power should translate in less than 10 minutes to fully charge the phone. The result should oscillate around 8-9 minutes. During tests conducted at MWC last year, it was possible to achieve a full charge in just 9 minutes. Realme promises that the appropriate cable capable of transferring so much power will be in the box with the smartphone.

that 240W is currently the maximum power that phones can take. The USB-C 2.1 standard used in them limits the voltage and current to 5 amps at 48 volts. Without further development of this standard, it will not be possible to improve the result.

Only, does anyone need a smartphone today that charges in less than 8 minutes?
