Apple may leave the iPhone X without a new version of iOS. This is reported by the publication PhoneArena.
Media journalists relying on their sources listed Apple smartphones that should receive an update to iOS 17. The authors suggested that the new version of the operating system will be available on all devices of the brand, starting with the iPhone Xs.
Thus, the iPhone X, released in 2017, which turned out to be the first Apple smartphone with a “monobrow”, may remain without an update and will be considered obsolete. According to journalists, this development is obvious, since the American company usually supports its smartphones with updates for five years after launch.
According to the publication’s forecast, iOS 17 will be announced at the WWDC summer conference. The release of the new operating system will take place in mid-September. The authors recalled that iOS 16 became available for iPhone users on September 12, iOS 15 on September 20, iOS 14 on September 16.
In conclusion, journalists suggested that iOS 17 should receive updated iMessage and Apple Music, interactive widgets, and support for third-party app stores.
In mid-December, Bloomberg sources reported that Apple was considering allowing third-party stores to download apps on the iPhone and iPad. Thus, the company will respond to the new EU laws.
