Elon Musk has remodeled the Twitter app. “TikTok” changes that no one asked for

Elon Musk announced news in the Twitter interface at the end of last week. He promised that this will be the first stage of much larger changes to this platform, which will include, among others, an increase in the character limit that has not been seen for years.

Twitter makes changes to the interface

In the newly introduced version of the application, after entering Twitter, we will see two tabs – “For you” and “Following”. The former is to show content selected for a given user (from followed and unfollowed accounts), the latter will show the latest tweets from followed accounts by date added. You can quickly switch between tabs by swiping the screen left or right.

The cards will replace the existing Twitter home page, which shows both content from the profiles you follow and suggested tweets sorted by popularity. Also disappears the ability to go to the (slightly hidden so far) “Recent” tab, where tweets appear from newest to oldest.

See the tweets you want to see. Starting today on iOS, swipe between tabs to see tweets featured “For You” or tweets from accounts you “follow”

– so announced the changes on Twitter itself.

The changes are quite surprising (or necessary?), but according to Twitter, they will make it much easier to switch between the list of content recommended to us and tweets from people we follow. As the service notes, by introducing them, Twitter made its homepage similar to the TikTok interface, which many users may not like.

Twitter in the refreshed edition will only be seen by iPhone users for now, because the changes have only come into force in the iOS application at the moment. We can expect, however, that in the coming days the novelty will also go to owners of Android phones and to Twitter in the browser version.

As Elon Musk announced earlier, the change described above is just the beginning of a wider refresh of the Twitter interface. What other changes is the billionaire planning? This is not yet known. At the beginning of February, Twitter, for the first time in years, is to extend the character limit per tweet – from 280 to as many as 4,000 characters.
