PlayStation 5 Slim coming next year? Sony is preparing big changes

The fact that Sony is already working on a new version of the PS5 is an open secret in the gaming industry. So far, however, we have not received any details related to this device. Now the secret has been revealed by The Leak, that the premiere of PlayStation 5 Slim (it is still not certain that this is the name of the new console) is scheduled for the third quarter of 2023.

The information provided by The Leak was also confirmed by Tom Henderson, one of the most trusted insiders in the industry, which shows that there is indeed something going on with the PS5 Slim.

As The Leak points out, changes related to PlayStation 5 Slim will cover both console design and components. Device it will be slimmer than the standard PS5. Sony will finally allow us to set the console in a horizontal position without having to use a special stand.

As for the “inside” of the console, the Japanese have to apply here new production processwhich will translate into lower voltage operation of the device, which in turn will result in lower power consumption.

Thanks to the improved cooling system, the working culture of the device will also improve, although it is worth noting that even the standard version of PS5 is not a loud console at all, especially when compared to PlayStation 4 Pro.

. Already in August 2021, the refreshed variant of PlayStation 5 Digital Edition hit the stores. The device was slightly lighter than the basic model, and mounting the stand that came with the device became a bit easier.

. Sony used a new one in it SOC AMD Oberon Plus made in 6 nm process (TSMC N6). This variant is much lighter than the standard PS5 (1.13 kg vs 1.58 kg).
