Twitter incorporates a public impression counter for each tweet

The social network Twitter continues its path towards transparency in its information. This Thursday, Elon Musk announced a new update to the platform that users can now view.

It is a visualizer of views that each tweet has. This is located below each tweet and next to the statistics of retweets, quotes and likes.

Musk specified that this was already normal for videos but they decided to incorporate it to show “how much more alive Twitter is than it seems, since more than 90% of Twitter users read, but do not tweet, reply or like, since those are public actions.”

Regarding views, the tycoon clarified that he was referring to impressions.

Within his first feelings, he highlighted that tweets are 100 times more viewed than what is reacted to them.

This type of sensation can generate anxiety in people knowing that other users can see their impression statistics. Several platforms decide to hide certain data so that users do not have a negative impact such as YouTube that removed the counter on the Dislike button. (YO)
