Glavred Wylsacom Media Pobyvanets predicted continued decline in demand for the iPhone in Russia
The two-fold drop in demand for the iPhone among Russians is due to a number of reasons, said Alexander Pobyvanets, editor-in-chief of Wylsacom Media, an expert on mobile devices. He named them in an interview with Lenta.ru, and also predicted a further drop in sales.
Earlier it became known that in 2022 the demand of Russians for the iPhone fell by almost half – sales from January to November amounted to 2.2 million units, which is 48 percent less than in the same period in 2021.
On the one hand, the iPhone with each new generation is not so different from each other, the specialist shared. “Market analysts say that new models are not selling well, the iPhone 14 Plus is not selling very well, like the iPhone 13 mini, which was supposed to replace,” he said.
On the other hand, the political situation also affects demand, said Pobyvanets. Firstly, there are no official deliveries of products, and secondly, the population is concerned about whether Apple services will work. “So far everything is functioning, but Apple Pay does not work, that is, it is inconvenient to pay with a smartphone without this option. Prices, for example, began to decline in the summer, now they are rising again, ”the expert said.
I think that together everything leads to the fact that if the iPhone is not the most important device for a person, then he will not buy a new one.

In his opinion, in 2023, the decline in demand will continue. “I think the situation is unlikely to change for the better, but, of course, everything depends on the political situation. Based on what we have now, it is unlikely that people will buy new expensive devices for themselves, but there will remain a category of those who are loyal to the brand and will purchase, as it has always been, ”Pobyvanets predicted.
At the end of 2022, Apple and Samsung lost their first places in the top sales in Russia, Lente.ru was informed in M.Video-Eldorado. More than 65 percent were the share of devices of the Chinese producers. Xiaomi Redmi 9A and Redmi Note 10S became the most popular smartphones.
