The chatbot won a discount on the Internet for the client. He threatened legal action

The DoNotPay company boasts that it was the first in the world to create a “robot lawyer” that can act on behalf of the client. CEO Joshua Browder showed how properly “trained” by his company he was able to negotiate a lower internet bill.

Chatbot got internet discount

During a conversation with a Comcast agent, the software, posing as a customer, indicated problems with access to the Internet. ChatGPT stressed that temporary connection problems resulted in the loss of the ability to conclude contracts with customers. The chatbot demanded lower internet service bills and threatened legal action.

The Comcast agent agreed to this request, and thus the customer, using the ChatGPT tool, obtained a discount on the Internet service in the amount of $ 120 per year.

Artificial intelligence is making progress

DoNotPay “trained” a chatbot to serve consumers as a lawyer, Joshua Browder explained in an interview with the technology service. ‘For the last five years, we’ve mainly used rules-based systems,’ he said. “The number of disputes we can handle has increased significantly because we can deal with cases where you can respond instead of just sending one template,” Browder pointed out.

DoNotPay’s CEO said that in the case presented above, it exaggerated the problem of outages, but “so would a customer.” Joshua Browder said that the chatbot will behave slightly differently once it is available to all users.

“We won’t allow exaggerations in the final version, but the chatbot will still act “aggressively,” invoking the law and evoking emotion,” Browder said.
