We tried The Freestyle, the new proposal to watch Samsung TV

The World Cup is coming and users have to find the best option to enjoy all the matches of this soccer event. But not only this, many premieres on streaming platforms or live broadcasts are also coming in the coming weeks. In short, audiovisual material is almost endless and finding new ways to enjoy it is of great importance for users.

However, the format is something fundamental. We are used to having a device hanging on the wall or placed on a table. But how about turning any wall into a screen.

That is the concept that Samsung is appealing to with its new Freestyle. And it is that if Samsung wants to make something clear, it is that this is not a projector, rather they call it an intelligent mobile screen. What does this mean? Well, we have a device that not only projects images onto a surface, but also already has its own operating system integrated into which the main streaming content applications can be installed, it has independent connectivity via Wi-Fi and they can output the sound through their own speakers or by connecting via Bluetooth to other external devices such as speakers or soundbars; the latter are the ones we most recommend.

It has a 180-degree base (which adjusts to project not just on the wall but on the ceiling), AI-enabled sound, and a compact design that fits any surface up to 100 inches.

Its Smart Calibration analyzes and improves the projection according to the background color where you are projecting, be it a tent, a fabric or the surface of a car. You only need to connect it to a 20,000mAp power bank to enjoy up to 2 hours of content.

The Freestyle concept is quite good, although it still has some flaws. Sometimes the Auto Key Stone’s automatic calibration takes time to recognize a surface and can give you improper focus or screen tilt.

Another aspect to take into account is that the light conditions must be ideal for the image to be appreciated well. If there is any light that leaks from somewhere, the image loses intensity.

It’s ideal for an outdoor gathering as with the right distance you can achieve a wall-sized screen (around 100 inches). It is perfect for a barbecue, a game or music; especially if connected to some more powerful speaker.

The Freestyle, having all the features of a smartTV in terms of software, allows connectivity with mobile devices and any game console can be connected through its microHDMI port.

It is super light and compact, weighing just 700 grams. You can place it on a nightstand and project it onto a wall in your room, no matter how big or small the surface is.

The big question for many is: Can the Freestyle replace a regular SmartTV? The answer is: it depends. Maybe he can do it with a low-end one, but he still has some time to compete in the big leagues. However, with what you have now, it is a very good option to view audiovisual content in a different and practical way. (YO)
