MacRumors: Apple may cancel the release of the new iPhone SE series smartphone

Apple may cancel the release of the new iPhone SE series smartphone. It is reported by MacRumors.

In the report, authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko said that the company is evaluating the need for a fourth-generation iPhone SE. Earlier it was reported that the new device will be released in 2023. According to an insider, Apple drew attention to the reduced demand for low-cost phones, so they can either postpone the production of the device or completely cancel its release.

The specialist said that the release of the fourth generation iPhone SE was disrupted, among other things, because the cost of production of the model had increased. In the new generation, the company intends to move to a new design with a “monobrow”, which will require additional costs. Ming-Chi Ko noted that the optimization, in which Apple is going to cancel the release of a number of gadgets, will help the corporation to more easily cope with the problems of the global economic crisis in 2023.

Journalists recalled that the iPhone SE 4 should receive a 6.1-inch display with a screen cutout, a new chip, a Touch ID fingerprint sensor or a Face ID biometric sensor built into the side button.

The original iPhone SE came out in 2016. In 2020 and 2022, Apple introduced the second and third generation of devices, respectively.

In October, analyst Ross Young said that the upcoming iPhone SE will take some of the features from the iPhone Xr model – a 6.1-inch IPS screen with a “monobrow”. According to Young, the release of the phone is scheduled for 2024.
