SamMobile: Samsung will introduce a laptop with a flexible 17.3-inch display
Samsung will release a portable computer with a flexible screen. This is reported by the Korean edition of SamMobile.
Media journalists cited a report by Korean publication The Elec, according to which Samsung Display intends to supply 8.5 million OLED laptop panels to the market in 2023. It is expected that most of the components will be supplied by Asus, the rest – by Samsung’s MX division, which develops devices in the Galaxy series.
In this regard, the authors suggested that the Korean company will introduce its first laptop with a folding display in 2023. The device will have a 17.3-inch OLED screen. When folded, the panel will consist of two halves, each measuring 13.3 inches. According to experts, one half can be used as a display, the second – a touch keyboard.
The authors also noted the market interest in flexible panels. So, in 2020, Samsung Display produced 960 thousand OLED displays for laptops, in 2021 – 5 million units, in 2022 – almost 6 million units.
Earlier it became known that Samsung has changed the strategy of development and production of smartphones. So, the company decided to stop saving on the release of expensive flagships – including for the sake of competition with Apple.
