Elon Musk dissolves Twitter’s board of directors and plans to charge $20 for having the blue verification badge

the billionaire Elon Musk is applying some changes to Twitter, his new company that he acquired last week for $44 billion. This Monday he decided to remove the nine members of the board of directors, according to a document from the Securities and Exchange Commissionand plans to position himself as the sole director of this social network.

The removal of the board members was imminent, as three of the board members had already been fired on Thursday, including chief executive Parag Agrawal.

This movement is one more that occurs after the purchase agreement. Musk had already withdrawn Twitter from the Stock Market on Friday and announced the creation of a “content moderation advice” which will include “diverse points of view”. He said that as long as there was no such council “there will be no major decisions on content or reinstatement of (closed) accounts.”

But another big change would also be coming.

The sought-after blue badge that Twitter applied to verified accounts could be within everyone’s reach, as long as they are willing to pay a value for this verification. According to the specialized media The Vergethis feature will be included in the paid subscription Twitter Bluewhose price will rise.

Musk responded on Sunday to a user of this social network, who has allegedly been denied the blue ticket on several occasions, that “the entire verification process is being renewed at the moment”.

The blue bird social network implemented a new account verification policy in 2021, which allows people to know that a public interest account is authentic, relevant and active.

Now the new design could include a additional payment to obtain said badge. According to The Verge, Twitter plans to introduce a payment process to earn the blue badge.

This change would be included in the Twitter Blue monthly subscription, a service that costs $4.99 and is currently only available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Twitter discusses raising subscription price to $19.99. This change would force verified users to pay for the subscription within 90 days, or else they would lose the badge, sources said. The Verge.

The verification process has been done for free so far.

Musk completed the purchase of Twitter last Thursday for $44 billion. It happened one day after the expiration of the term given by a judge to archive the complaint of the social network against the businessman. (YO)
