Tim Cook thanked Sony for ten years of cooperation
Apple CEO Tim Cook thanked Sony for cooperating in the production of the iPhone. It is reported by MacRumors.
According to media journalists, the Apple executive visited the Sony Camera Development Center in the Japanese city of Kumamoto. “We’ve partnered with Sony for over a decade to create world-leading camera sensors for the iPhone,” wrote Twitter Tim Cook and thanked the partner. Thus, the head of Apple for the first time publicly admitted that his company uses Sony sensors in its devices.
According to the authors of the publication, Apple and its top managers usually do not disclose or comment on cooperation with other companies that supply parts for gadgets. However, journalists noticed that the connection between the American IT giant and Sony has long ceased to be a secret for industry experts. In particular, enthusiasts from iFixit spoke about the presence of components from a Japanese manufacturer about ten years ago.
The material says that for the first time Apple used sensors from Sony in the iPhone 6 smartphones released in 2014. Apparently, the US corporation will continue to cooperate with Sony – earlier insiders reported that the iPhone 15 line phones will be equipped with the latest image sensors from the Japanese company.
Earlier it became known that Foxconn invested $500 million in a factory for Apple in India. According to SCMP journalists, in this way, an Apple partner will help the company move the production of smartphones from China.
