TrendForce: Global smartphone shipments down 11 percent year on year
Global smartphone shipments have collapsed. This is reported in the current TrendForce report.
Analysts noted that in the third quarter, global shipments of smartphones reached 289 million units. On a quarterly and yearly basis, device sales fell 0.9 percent and 11 percent, respectively. The agency’s specialists attributed this to the more cautious behavior of smartphone manufacturers in the market, due to a decrease in demand.
During the specified period, Samsung – the leader in the global market – shipped 64.2 million units of gadgets. The Korean corporation received a share of 22.2 percent. The second position was taken by Apple, which finished the quarter with a share of 17.6 percent. In the top 3 was Xiaomi, which received a share of 13.1 percent.
TrendForce estimates that global smartphone production will be around 316 million units in the fourth quarter of 2022. The specialists noted that during the holiday sales, device manufacturers were not particularly effective in stimulating smartphone sales by lowering prices.
At the end of November, the authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko predicted a collapse in sales of Apple smartphones. This will be affected by the protests of workers at the factories of Foxconn – Apple’s main partner – in China.
