MacRumors: new iPhones will be in short supply due to problems in China

Authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko predicted a collapse in sales of Apple smartphones. This is reported by MacRumors.

According to the specialist, shipments of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max in the fourth quarter of the year will be significantly lower than predicted. This was influenced by the protests of workers at the factories of Foxconn – Apple’s main partner – in China. As a result, smartphones may be in short supply.

Ming-Chi Ko suggested that due to problems, the American IT giant will produce 70-75 million units of smartphones by the end of the year. This is 20 percent less than in the same period in 2021. Previously, the analyst believed that Apple will have time to release 80-85 million units of devices.

The insider also noted that the average capacity utilization rate at factories in China in November was only about 20 percent. It is expected that in December it will increase only to 30-40 percent. The problems will affect the corporation’s revenue, which will be 20-30 percent lower than projected.

Ko stressed that many buyers of new iPhones will not have time to receive their devices before the end of the year. In this regard, consumers may refuse to purchase gadgets.

Previously, the authors of Bloomberg said that due to protests in China, the production of Apple’s flagship smartphones this year will be six million units less. The difficult situation at Foxconn factories has developed due to strict quarantine restrictions in China.
