Izvestia: demand for iPhone in Russia fell by 35.2% compared to last year
Demand for the iPhone has fallen in Russia. From January to November of this year, 2.96 million smartphones were sold. This is 35.2 percent less than in the same period last year. Izvestia writes about this with reference to sources in mobile operators and distributors.
Demand for the newest model of this line – iPhone 14 – has fallen by 2.5 times since the start of sales this fall. From September to mid-November 2022, 400,000 iPhones were sold, which is 60 percent less than in the same period a year earlier.
Experts cite several reasons for the decline in Russians’ interest in the iPhone. Firstly, at present, NFC payments do not work on smartphones of this line in Russia. In addition, users are experiencing difficulties with replenishing their Apple ID account. This can only be done through certain mobile operators.
The stagnation in the iPhone 14 line also played a role. The new model does not surpass the previous model in quality. The high price of the devices also contributed to the decrease in the interest of Russians in Apple gadgets. The basic iPhone 14 has become more expensive than the iPhone 13 by $ 100, and in Russia the cost has increased even more. It affected the low desire of Russians to buy Apple smartphones and the lack of an official warranty from the manufacturer.
Earlier it became known that the most affordable iPhone 14 fell in price. It was available on the Russian market for 60 thousand rubles. At the beginning of the sale, a phone with a 128 gigabyte drive was estimated at 85 thousand rubles. The iPhone 14 Pro Max also fell in price to a record high in the Russian market. It can be bought for 86 thousand rubles.
