Personal data leak. Seniors most vulnerable to cheaters
Poles perceive the greatest threat to personal data as those who try to extort it through fake SMSs, e-mails and phone calls (43%). Data leaks came in second place. Every third respondent (34.5%) is afraid of them, according to the survey.

Only 46 percent. respondents would know how to react in the event of a leak. Among this group, over 57 percent. are people aged 25-34. In turn, the seniors would have the biggest problems. The study shows that 2/3 of people over 65 would not know what action should be taken.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to protect yourself against leakage of personal data. The security of the databases depends on the entities that manage them. Therefore, it is very important to know how to respond. For example, if the leaked information also includes personal data, e.g. a PESEL number, you should check as soon as possible whether someone has tried to use them. It is also worth thinking about starting the monitoring of the credit activity of our PESEL number, thanks to which we will find out if in the future someone wants to extort a loan or other financial obligation for it

Every third Pole cannot predict the effects of a data leak
About 2/3 of the respondents know what the leakage of personal data may be. Among the potential consequences of such an event, the respondents most often indicated incurring financial obligations in the form of, for example, a loan or leasing agreement (86%), the use of data to impersonate our loved ones (75%), the sale of personal data (68%). .) or setting up a company for stolen data (64%).
Only a little over 30 percent. of the respondents declared that they know who should deal with the neutralization of the effects of the leak – we read. 70 percent of those surveyed believe it is the job of the police and other law enforcement agencies. 60 percent indicates the company or institution that is the administrator of the database from which the data leaked. In turn, over 56 percent. points to the Personal Data Protection Office, and 44 percent. on data protection officers from institutions and companies with breaches. Every third respondent believes that the neutralization of the effects should be done by the person whose data was leaked.
In a situation where there is an accidental or unlawful destruction, loss or disclosure of data, we are dealing with a breach of personal data protection. When the breach causes a risk to the rights or freedoms of natural persons, the controller should notify the Personal Data Protection Office of the breach of personal data protection within 72 hours. The administrator is obliged to take effective measures to ensure protection of natural persons and their personal data
