CNet: Apple and Samsung release new smartphones every year due to profit and demand
Smartphone companies release new flagships every year for their own benefit. This is reported by the publication CNet.
Journalists of the thematic portal tried to answer the question why Apple, Samsung and other IT companies release new devices every year. According to the authors, companies not only see this as their own benefit, but also focus on market demand.
Experts noticed that from 2016 to 2018, smartphone owners in the United States began to update their devices less often. If earlier consumers bought new devices every 22 months, then by the end of 2018 the renewal cycle was 24 months. Also, modern flagships have become more expensive – in this regard, the annual release of top-end devices seems illogical.

The authors named the reasons why device manufacturers present a new generation of their smartphones every year. According to journalists, users want to be able to purchase a new device at any time – in the event of a breakdown, loss or obsolescence of the current device. Advertising also influences consumer desire: “You secretly want it, just enjoying a better camera or a bigger screen.”
In addition, experts have noticed that many companies – for example, Apple – release their gadgets in the fall. This is due to the imminent onset of the Christmas season and the need to purchase gifts.
Earlier, Bloomberg sources said that at the presentation on September 7, Apple will show new smartphones, smart watches and headphones. The company is expected to announce the iPhone 14 line, Apple Watch and AirPods Pro.
