Sales of smartphones Samsung and Apple in Russia collapsed

The Chinese company Realme bypassed Samsung and Apple combined in sales of smartphones in Russia. It is reported by “Kommersant”.

Journalists who studied the MTS report for July noticed that Xiaomi ranked first in Russia in smartphone sales with a share of 42 percent. In second place was Realme, which received a share of 17 percent. The shares of the former leaders – Samsung and Apple – rapidly collapsed: in July it amounted to 8.5 and 7 percent against 10.9 and 9.7 percent a month earlier, respectively. Tecno came in fourth with 7.5 percent.

In monetary terms, Xiaomi also took first place in terms of sales, which, together with the Poco brand, received a share of 35 percent. Apple came in second with 25 percent, and Realme came in third with 12.5 percent. Below are Samsung and Tecno – 11 and 4 percent, respectively. Experts interviewed by Kommersant journalists suggested that the shares of Samsung and Apple decreased due to supply problems.

According to Andrey Tarasov, executive director of diHouse, direct import of Samsung and Apple devices has completely stopped. Tarasov noted that the parallel import of these devices does not work in the volume necessary for replacement. Marvel Distribution emphasized that the share of Chinese smartphones has also grown due to the fact that products are becoming stronger. The company said that with poor supplies, the share of A-brands could sink below 10 percent before the end of the year.

Earlier, analysts at the Price.ru aggregator predicted a rise in price of smartphones by 10-15 percent in Russia by autumn. In the summer of the same device because of the “seasonal lull” fell in price by 2-5 percent.
