Director of IT-Reserve Myasoedov: free SIM-cards carry a lot of risks
The director of IT-Reserve Pavel Myasoedov revealed the danger of free SIM cards in an interview with the Prime agency.
According to him, SIM cards that people get for free, especially from hands or in “gray” communication stores, carry many risks in terms of data security. He noted that such SIM-cards are not registered to a real subscriber, but this is required by law. The expert said that they are issued to unknown individual entrepreneurs or unknown individuals.
Myasoedov warned that this is dangerous, since the real owner of the SIM card can legally return his number, and thus begin to receive your calls and messages, as well as access codes to bank clients.
In addition, the individual entrepreneur or company for which the SIM card was issued may be closed, and then the current contract will be automatically suspended.
Earlier, Dmitry Galov, a cybersecurity expert at Kaspersky Lab, warned Russians that chatbots in the Telegram messenger could steal personal data. “From the point of view of information transfer, a chatbot is the same mechanism of user interaction as a form for filling in data on a website. In this area, as in any other, there are scammers who are trying to cash in on users,” Galov said.
