The duo made up of the Ecuadorian Diego Hidalgo and the Colombian Cristian Rodríguez said goodbye this Saturday to the Wimbledon doubles tournament, in the second round, after falling in five sets against the couple of the Moldovan Radu Albot and the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili with partial 6- 4, 2-6, 3-6, 7-6 (2) and 7-5.

For Hidalgo (29 years old) it was his first participation in the Grand Slam, which he entered as an alternate, since the Australians Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis dropped out before the first round. It also marked Rodríguez’s debut in the main draw.
In the previous game, the pair of the Ecuadorian and the Colombian prevailed over the couple of the Slovenian Aljaž Bedene and the South Korean Soon-Woo Kwon with partials of 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) and 6-3, in a journey that was completed the next day due to rain.
Before yielding this Saturday, Hidalgo expressed his feelings to ESPN: “It is a dream to be here, because we were alternates. We came to train and now we are taking advantage of it, we said we were going to enjoy it. We are going to get information from all the (tennis players) that we canWe talked about it with Cristian (laughing). We are learning, we are going to dedicate ourselves to doubles”.
According to the ATP website, the Ecuadorian is ranked 94th in the world ranking, his best historical place.
