The Russian striker of the National Hockey League (NHL) club Colorado Avalanche Valery Nichushkin was booed during the team’s championship parade after winning the Stanley Cup in the 2021/2022 season. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
When the Russian hockey player appeared at the ceremony in front of the fans, part of the Colorado fans reacted disapprovingly. It is noted that Nichushkin limped on stage, as he played in the final with a fracture of the metatarsal bone.
Colorado won the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2001. In the final, they were stronger than the Tampa Bay Lightning, beating them 4-2 in the series.
Nichushkin became the 36th Russian to win the Stanley Cup. He is a graduate of the Chelyabinsk “Tractor”. On his account, the silver of the Continental Hockey League as part of CSKA. The hockey player has been playing in the NHL since 2018, as part of the Colorado since the 2019/2020 season.
