Coach Ralf Rangnick announced on Sunday that he will not remain at Manchester United as a technical advisor. After taking charge of the Austrian national team, the German had stated that he would perform both roles at the same time.
However, in a press conference, the captain confirmed that he will not stay at the English club due to the “demands of his position in the Austria national team”.
“We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as caretaker manager over the past six months. By mutual agreement, Ralf will now only focus on his new role as coach of the Austrian national team and therefore will not take a consulting role at Old Trafford. to wish Ralf good luck in this next chapter of his career,” the team said in a statement released on Sunday.
Ralf Rangnick joined United as manager, but ended up on the sidelines after Solskjaer was sacked as caretaker manager. He even took part in the hiring of Dutchman Erik ten Hag as Manchester United’s coach for next season.
In the English Championship, the German led the team to the qualification for the Europa League, ending the competition in sixth place, with 58 points conquered. In total there were 29 games under the command of the team, with 11 victories, nine draws and nine defeats.
Rangnick now leads Austria in the upcoming Nations League games as he faces Croatia, Denmark and France in group 1 of the tournament.
